My name is Thubstan Yanchen. I am from Both-Kharboo. I study until 1998 at the Government high school at Both-Kharboo. I like going to school, my hope is that I may study at University or College one day. Because my father died, I had to stop studying in my 10th year although I have many family members, at that time my mother was un-educated and could not provide support or guidance for my studies. In 2001 I realised my childhood dream to become a nun. I became an Amchi to help other people who are sick or poor. Then Dr Palmo took us to Darjeeling to learn to become Amchis. The head of the Amchi school was Thokawa Rinpoche and he taught us Traditional Tibetan Medicine practice. During our studies we stayed with Rimpoche for 4 months because he was sick and had to go to Sikkim.
For the last three years we lived in Darjeeling to do our Amchi studies. Thern we came back to LNA because our Rinpoche had died. From 2004 to 2009 we completed our Amchi studies at LNA under the guidance of our new teacher Thinles Yangjor. In 2010 we finished our studies and became Amchis completing the student phase of the Amchi Project. From March 2010, as fully qualified Amchis, we went to Mankhang and begane practicing medicine there.
I will never forget the support I have recieved from LNA. I will give back to LNA what ever I can in return for their kindness. Thank you LNA.
